Heat Pumps

More than 45,000 heat pumps have been installed in Maine homes and businesses over the past five years. They are the most popular heating system across all of Efficiency Maine’s rebates because they offer highly efficient heating, air conditioning, and dehumidification. Efficiency Maine offers heat pump rebates for residential, low-income, and commercial customers.

Heat Pump Water Heaters

Heat pump water heaters are an exciting new technology that is a great fit for many Maine homeowners. These water heaters typically cost half as much to operate as traditional electric resistance water heaters. Energy Star report they can save a four-person household more than $3,500 over ten years when compared to electric water heaters. Other benefits include long warranties and the ability to dehumidify.

High Efficiency Appliances

Appliances, lighting, and electronics account for 30% of the typical household’s energy consumption, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. You can help reduce energy use for years to come. Consider upgrading to high-efficiency appliances and save:

  • High-Efficiency Air Purifiers
  • Clothes Dryers
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Dishwashers
  • Freezers
  • Refrigerators

Use LED or CFL Light Bulbs

Switching to light-emitting diodes (LEDs) or compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) is an easy way to use energy safely and wisely. It’s a change that will go a long way in helping you to reduce energy waste, greenhouse gas emissions, and the amount you spend on energy costs. Wonder how much you can save? Use their savings calculator to see how much you can save each year by replacing standard incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient bulbs.

Energy Audits and Weatherization

Does your home suffer from ice dams, frozen pipes or cold spots? Are you tired of wasting money to heat a leaky home? Receiving an energy assessment from an Efficiency Maine Residential Registered Vendor is a logical first step toward weatherizing your home. Energy assessments involve various tests to help you prioritize which areas to weatherize first. Weatherization may address these problems and deliver increased year-round comfort, and involves air-sealing and increasing the insulation in your attic, basement, and walls.
